3 ways to use canned chicken that actually taste great

Updated: Mar 24, 2020

I know, I know! most people are so grossed out by canned chicken BUT I’ve found a couple recipes that hide the canny taste, are quick and easy and believe it or not are totally delicious. Canned chicken is an amazing option for your pantry or food storage and I can't tell you how many times it's saved the day when I couldn't get to the store or needed a last minute meal. All 3 of these meals are so dang easy and super yummy. Enjoy!

Chicken Tacos

These are my favorite for lunch, so dang fast and easy and delicious! Serves 2.

12.5 oz can of chicken

1/3-1/2 cup water

3-4 TBSP of taco seasoning

4 corn tortillas

Shredded cheese

butter

Add first three ingredients to a pan and bring cook oh high until water absorbs and chicken is coated in seasoning. Remove from heat and set aside. Throw some tortillas on the griddle and sprinkle cheese on half the tortilla.

Let it begin to melt and then top with chicken and fold in half. Slather the tortilla in butter and cook for a few minutes longer on both sides to get a slightly crispy taco. Serve with all your fav taco toppings. YUM.

Hawaiian Haystacks

For sure a family fav. My kids get so excited when we cook these for dinner.

Sauce:

12.5 oz can of chicken

1 1/4 cup of milk

one can of cream of chicken soup

bring all ingredients to a boil to create sauce. Add more or less milk depending on desired thickness.

Serve over hot rice and set out topping so your family can top it with whatever they like.

Toppings:

cheese

chopped bell pepper

olives

celery

tomatos

crunchy chinese noodles

pineapple

mandarin oranges

Chicken and cream cheese stuffed croissants

Another super easy and delicious dinner your family will love!

Ingredients:

12.5 oz can of chicken

1/4 cup of chopped green onions

1 package of cream cheese

1-2 cans refrigerated croissant dough

3 tablespoons of melted butter (optional)

Mix first 3 ingredients together until thoroughly combined.

Using a rolling pin, roll each of the triangular dough sections a bit wider and add a blob of the chicken filling to the center. Fold the two bottom corners of the dough over the chicken and roll up the croissant completely covering the filling.

set on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper and press to flatten slightly. Use your finger or a fork to seal the edges, the way you would with a pie crust. makes 12-16 depending on how much filling you like in each croissant.

Throw it in the oven at 375 degrees for 17-20 minutes or until the croissant is golden brown. Brush with butter while still hot, or eat them plain. I like to prep these early, throw them in the fridge so they're ready to pop into the oven come dinner time.
